The health center provides a blood drawing station staffed by expert phlebotomists from Norwalk Hospital. Specimens are sent to the hospital for analysis; results are reported through the health center’s Electronic Health Records system. The health center, in cooperation with Norwalk Hospital, maintains a full service pharmacy on site. Staffed by registered pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other support staff this team works to provide timely cost-effective medications to all health center patients. The pharmacy is for health center patients only and is not open to the general public. The direct telephone number for the pharmacy is 203-899-0708 The health center offers eligibility assistance for health insurance applications, including presumptive eligibility and regular visits by the state-owned bus staffed with Department of Social Services staff to assist with various HUSKY and Medicaid applications. NCHC has partnered with West Avenue Dental, located at 520 West Avenue in Norwalk, just a few blocks from the health center. Free transportation is provided to and from the dental practice, and discounts are offered to health center patients. Children are welcome, Spanish speaking staff available. NCHC’s mission is to provide primary care medical services to patients regardless of ability to pay. Staff will assist any needy patient in acquiring health insurance if the patient qualifies; if not, staff will assess income and assets and offer a “sliding fee schedule discount” based on ability to pay. Patients are expected to pay their portion of the bill at the time of service. |
